B.E.S.T. stands for Boosting Engineering, Science ad Technology. BEST is a national organization that, according to their website, in 2012 boasted 875 teams, 46 hubs and 4 regional competitions. BEST robotics competitions offer a new educational challenge each year, seeking to encourage students to practice skills of problem-solving, creative design, application of mathematical and physics skills in real-world scenarios. BEST participants gain training that is transferrable to all academic disciplines and career pursuits. The mission of B.E.S.T. is to engage and excite students across the country about engineering, science and technology as well as inspire them to pursue careers in those fields. It is through the exposure to abstract thinking, project management, teamwork, decision-making and leadership that a better understanding of the engineering process is gained. These are skills that industry seeks in its workforce and BEST has discovered a creative way of developing these traits and skills in a way that is encouraging, motivating and inspiring to students.
